In October 2023, the average export price for meat of sheep or goats; fresh, chilled or frozen amounted to $8,066 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 39% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $8,859 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($10,790 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,301 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $7,615 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($9,425 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,177 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by North Macedonia (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
