Which Countries Import the Most Goat Meat?

In 2015, the value of total imports on the global goat meat market stood at 324.8 million USD. In physical terms, the total volume of goat meat decreased to 62.4 thousand tonnes in 2015, 7.2 thousand tonnes (10%) less than the previous year.

According to market research conducted by IndexBox, in 2015, the U.S. (17.8 thousand tonnes) and the UAE (13.0 thousand tonnes) were the main destinations for goat meat imports, together making up 49% of total imports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia (9%), Qatar (8%), Oman (5%), Canada and Portugal (3% each).

From 2007 to 2015, Saudi Arabia had the highest growth rates of imports, with a CAGR of +11.0%. It was followed by Portugal (+10.1%), the UAE (+8.0%) and the U.S. (+7.3%).

The U.S., the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Portugal strengthened their positions in the global import structure, while others countries saw theirs shares reduced from 2007 to 2015.
