Price for Meat of Bovine Animals; Frozen in Japan (CIF) - 2023
The average import price for meat of bovine animals; frozen stood at $4,711 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,697 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were New Zealand ($6,104 per ton) and Poland ($5,615 per ton), while the price for Australia ($4,488 per ton) and Canada ($4,489 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average export price for meat of bovine animals; frozen amounted to $44,212 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 7.8% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $52,183 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($59,328 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($24,257 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
