In July 2023, the average export price for meat of bovine animals; frozen amounted to $5,956 per ton, dropping by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 9.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $6,245 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,550 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($1,768 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for meat of bovine animals; frozen stood at $6,123 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -3.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $6,353 per ton in June 2023, and then contracted modestly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,579 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Meat of Bovine Animals; Frozen in Ireland
For the fourth consecutive year, Ireland recorded growth in shipments abroad of meat of bovine animals; frozen, which increased by 2.8% to 131K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, meat of bovine animals; frozen exports surged to $752M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
