In June 2023, the average import price for meat of bovine animals; frozen amounted to $5,356 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 4.1% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $7,012 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,954 per ton), while the price for Uruguay ($4,197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for meat of bovine animals; frozen stood at $12,279 per ton in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, meat of bovine animals; frozen export price increased by +40.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,430 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR totaled $12,142 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+32.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, China recorded growth in overseas purchases of meat of bovine animals; frozen, which increased by 12% to 2.5M tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, meat of bovine animals; frozen imports skyrocketed to $17.6B in 2022. In general, imports saw a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
