In 2022, the average magnesium; waste and scrap import price amounted to $2,532 per ton, surging by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,613 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

In 2022, purchases abroad of magnesium; waste and scraps decreased by -27.8% to 51 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth.
