Price for Magnesium; Waste and Scrap in Kazakhstan (FOB) - 2022

The average magnesium; waste and scrap export price stood at $399 per ton in 2022, growing by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, faced a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 7.2%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,336 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($427 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia stood at $43 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (-10.6%).

Exports of Magnesium; Waste and Scrap in Kazakhstan

In 2022, overseas shipments of magnesium; waste and scraps decreased by -35.6% to 1.6 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 199%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.4 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, magnesium; waste and scrap exports reduced remarkably to $635 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 145%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.2K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
