In December 2023, the average import price for liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes amounted to $613 per ton, reducing by -2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $738 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Canada amounted to +0.3% per month.

In 2022, the average export price for liquefied ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadienes amounted to $3,635 per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 218%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($6,234 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($322 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
