Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Denmark (CIF) - 2023

The average grapes; fresh or dried import price stood at $2,449 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -7.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grapes; fresh or dried import price decreased by -17.3% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 42% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,287 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Africa ($3,558 per ton), while the price for Greece ($1,860 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average grapes; fresh or dried export price stood at $2,785 per ton in August 2023, growing by 22% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 31% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,409 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Finland ($5,739 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($2,248 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Denmark

In 2022, purchases abroad of grapes; fresh or drieds decreased by -13.6% to 26K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 8.4% against the previous year.

In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried imports dropped markedly to $66M in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 8.5% against the previous year.

In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried exports fell rapidly to $8.1M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a sharp contraction. The smallest decline of -10.9% was in 2021.
