The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,400 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -10.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 13%. The import price peaked at $3,083 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,980 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,524 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $8,317 per ton in December 2022, surging by 7.1% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2021 to December 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8,460 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to December 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($8,548 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($5,480 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam recorded growth in purchases abroad of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics), which increased by 13% to 77K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three-year period.
