In January 2024, the average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $3,077 per ton, picking up by 23% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 31% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,559 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,284 per ton), while the price for France ($1,479 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,966 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,908 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($842 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
