The average import price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) stood at $2,670 per ton in 2022, rising by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,239 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($5,640 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,819 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, imports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) rose remarkably to $91M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
