In January 2024, the average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $1,093 per ton, which is down by -10.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.5% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,501 per ton. From July 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($1,620 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($858 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild contraction. The import price peaked at $2,398 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,150 per ton), while the price for China ($1,034 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year.
