Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in India (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average glass fibres and wool export price amounted to $5,188 per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 34%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($6,312 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,727 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in India (CIF) - 2022

The average glass fibres and wool import price stood at $2,801 per ton in 2022, falling by -2.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,754 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,148 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $2,082 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.4%).

Exports of Glass Fibres and Wool in India

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of glass fibres and glass wool decreased by -22.1% to 14K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 18K tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibres and wool exports shrank to $75M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 71%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $86M, and then shrank in the following year.
