Price for Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in India (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average glass fibre chopped strand import price amounted to $1,022 per ton, growing by 3.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The import price peaked at $1,416 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,623 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($859 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Price for Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in India (FOB) - 2022

The average glass fibre chopped strand export price stood at $2,288 per ton in 2022, jumping by 32% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,417 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($13,747 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,044 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+251.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in India

In 2022, the amount of glass fibre chopped strands imported into India rose remarkably to 54K tons, growing by 14% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, glass fibre chopped strand imports surged to $73M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 51%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
