In 2022, the average glass fibre and article import price amounted to $3,138 per ton, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 31%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($4,773 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,471 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Glass Fibre and Article in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022
The average glass fibre and article export price stood at $10,573 per ton in 2022, jumping by 44% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, glass fibre and article export price increased by +69.1% against 2017 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($11,769 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Caledonia ($3,864 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cayman Islands (+46.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Glass Fibre and Article in New Zealand
In 2022, the amount of glass fibres and glass fibre articles imported into New Zealand fell markedly to 13K tons, declining by -15.7% against the year before.
