Price for Glass Fibre and Article in Costa Rica (CIF) - 2022

The average glass fibre and article import price stood at $3,120 per ton in 2022, waning by -8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,426 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,002 per ton), while the price for China ($2,007 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average glass fibre and article export price amounted to $3,885 per ton, declining by -28.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $18,552 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,456 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cuba ($755 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Glass Fibre and Article in Costa Rica

In 2022, imports of glass fibres and glass fibre articles into Costa Rica declined rapidly to 3.8K tons, dropping by -22.4% compared with the year before. In general, imports recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.9K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre and article imports fell markedly to $12M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt slump.
