In November 2023, the average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $5,160 per ton, rising by 5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $6,124 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Cuba ($6,873 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,939 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $4,111 per ton in 2022, waning by -3.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 10%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,755 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($6,451 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($1,416 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
