In December 2022, the average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $762 per ton, rising by 47% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $798 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to December 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($2,496 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($364 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $519 per ton in 2022, falling by -38.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 138%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,333 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($1,500 per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($150 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+23.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
