In 2022, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes export price amounted to $9,867 per ton, with a decrease of -21.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 76%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $21,423 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($49,231 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,891 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price stood at $8,348 per ton in July 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 29% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,606 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($14,854 per ton), while the price for Greece ($3,907 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Hungary

For the fourth consecutive year, Hungary recorded growth in shipments abroad of aluminium; tubes and pipeses, which increased by 20% to 4.1K tons in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 432%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes exports declined to $41M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 238% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $43M, and then fell in the following year.
