The average export price for furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use stood at $254 per unit in November 2023, jumping by 23% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($549 per unit), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($81.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use stood at $90.1 per unit in November 2023, jumping by 15% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 28% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $114 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($145 per unit), while the price for North Macedonia ($36.0 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Furniture; Wooden, Other than for Office, Kitchen or Bedroom Use in Slovenia
For the third year in a row, Slovenia recorded decline in overseas shipments of furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use, which decreased by -20.1% to 597K units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant decrease. The smallest decline of -17.9% was in 2021. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at 1.9M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use shrank to $109M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at $121M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use shrank modestly to $60M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $61M, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
