The average export price for fresh or chilled sheep (excluding lamb) carcasses and half-carcasseses stood at $5,629 per ton in 2022, waning by -19.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 140% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,500 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($6,776 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($4,174 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of fresh or chilled sheep (excluding lamb) carcasses and half-carcasseses, when their volume decreased by -82.6% to 800 kg. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 1,280%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 4.6 tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of fresh or chilled sheep (excluding lamb) carcasses and half-carcasseses shrank markedly to $4.5K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 1,164%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $32K, and then declined significantly in the following year.
