The average export price for fresh or chilled sheep (excluding lamb) carcasses and half-carcasseses stood at $7,994 per ton in July 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 6.9% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,895 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Kuwait ($8,628 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($7,896 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($7,834 per ton) and Qatar ($7,838 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
