In November 2023, the average import price for fresh or chilled lettuce, other than cabbage lettuce amounted to $2,197 per ton, declining by -5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 27% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,053 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($4,457 per ton), while the price for Spain ($2,104 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $5,422 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+4.5%).
