Over the last eight-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.1% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $541 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from South Africa ($533 per ton) and Morocco ($532 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($522 per ton) and China ($531 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
