Price for Diols and Polyhydric Alcohols in France (FOB) - 2023
The average diols and polyhydric alcohols export price stood at $6,717 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated pronounced growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, diols and polyhydric alcohols export price decreased by -4.5% against May 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $7,036 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($10,170 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($3,919 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average diols and polyhydric alcohols import price amounted to $3,893 per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 49% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,127 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,511 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($1,962 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Diols and Polyhydric Alcohols in France
In 2022, the amount of diols and polyhydric alcohols (excluding ethylene glycol and propylene glycol, d-glucitol) exported from France shrank to 45K tons, which is down by -9.9% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 93%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 50K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, diols and polyhydric alcohols exports reduced slightly to $205M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion.
