In December 2023, the average export price for cycles; parts, pedals and crank-gear, and parts thereoves amounted to $3,866 per ton, picking up by 6.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $5,448 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,738 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($1,545 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for cycles; parts, pedals and crank-gear, and parts thereoves stood at $31,131 per ton in December 2023, which is down by -6.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $33,207 per ton in November 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($102K per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($7,454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Cycles; Parts, Pedals and Crank-Gear, and Parts Thereof in China
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of cycles; parts, pedals and crank-gear, and parts thereoves decreased by -42.2% to 43K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 75K tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, exports of cycles; parts, pedals and crank-gear, and parts thereoves declined rapidly to $224M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $294M, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 2.5K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of cycles; parts, pedals and crank-gear, and parts thereoves reduced to $44M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +36.6% against 2019 indices.
