The average import price for cutlery; other than plated with precious metals stood at $6,070 per ton in December 2023, falling by -5.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $7,720 per ton. From July 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($18,290 per ton), while the price for China ($5,500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for cutlery; other than plated with precious metals amounted to $23,070 per ton, rising by 34% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 34%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $28,596 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($30,027 per ton), while the average price for exports to Anguilla ($7,020 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of cutlery; other than plated with precious metals decreased by -1.8% to 43K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend.
