The average import price for cutlery; other than plated with precious metals stood at $18,220 per ton in January 2024, falling by -14.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 64% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $21,209 per ton in December 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($37,917 per ton), while the price for China ($15,445 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for cutlery; other than plated with precious metals amounted to $18,921 per ton, rising by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 33%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $33,798 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($59,540 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($17,854 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Cutlery; Other than Plated with Precious Metal in Norway
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of cutlery; other than plated with precious metals, when their volume decreased by -34.5% to 327 tons. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 500 tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
