The average import price for cork; natural cork, raw or simply prepareds stood at $5,056 per ton in 2022, waning by -14.7% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 37%. The import price peaked at $5,928 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($5,120 per ton), while the price for Poland amounted to $2,587 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+2.2%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of cork; natural cork, raw or simply prepareds decreased by -54.5% to 1.8 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 45%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.3 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of cork; natural cork, raw or simply prepareds contracted dramatically to $9.3K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 99% against the previous year.
