The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $9,906 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $10,440 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($14,918 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($3,466 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $7,294 per ton in July 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 21% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,403 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($10,854 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($6,742 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Hungary
In 2022, copper plates, sheets and strip imports into Hungary stood at 9.2K tons, increasing by 6.1% against 2021 figures.
