The average import price for coal; bituminous, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds stood at $124 per ton in December 2023, falling by -8.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $193 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $211 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Georgia ($195 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($121 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+33.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
