In November 2023, the average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $10,802 per ton, which is down by -9.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $13,054 per ton. From March 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($12,335 per ton), while the price for Serbia totaled $10,167 per ton.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $12,871 per ton in November 2023, with a decrease of -2.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 9.9% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $13,480 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($15,927 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($11,029 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Slovenia

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of copper plates, sheets and strips decreased by -0.5% to 4.5K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.5K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip imports totaled $52M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth.
