In 2022, the average chocolate bar with filling import price amounted to $3,993 per ton, waning by -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,051 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,443 per ton), while the price for China ($245 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($55,781 per ton), while the average price for exports to Comoros ($1,610 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (+25.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Chocolate Bar with Filling in Tanzania

Chocolate bar with filling imports into Tanzania rose slightly to 125 tons in 2022, with an increase of 4.9% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a dramatic setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 87%.
