The average chocolate bar with filling import price stood at $4,845 per ton in March 2022, which is down by -18.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2021 when the average import price increased by 31% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,526 per ton. From September 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,766 per ton), while the price for China ($869 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average chocolate bar with filling export price stood at $6,954 per ton in March 2022, rising by 5.8% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 43% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,271 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In March 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Thailand ($7,631 per ton) and Brunei Darussalam ($7,614 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($6,538 per ton) and Maldives ($7,200 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Maldives (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
