Price for Cherry and Sour Cherry in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average cherry and sour cherry import price amounted to $5,828 per ton, waning by -20.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, cherry and sour cherry import price increased by +27.7% against March 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 47% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $8,004 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($8,369 per ton), while the price for Germany ($4,426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+71.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cherry and sour cherry export price amounted to $9,109 per ton, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cherry and sour cherry export price decreased by -22.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 51%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,807 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 632 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cherry and sour cherry imports shrank notably to $2.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -26.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 61%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.2M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
