The average export price for carbides; of silicon, whether or not chemically defineds stood at $942 per ton in December 2023, approximately mirroring the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 2.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,652 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($1,240 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($798 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for carbides; of silicon, whether or not chemically defineds stood at $1,878 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -18.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,369 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($10,210 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,594 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Carbides; of Silicon, Whether or Not Chemically Defined in Ukraine
In 2022, the amount of carbides; of silicon, whether or not chemically defineds exported from Ukraine shrank notably to 14K tons, which is down by -16.8% on the year before.
