The average export price for meat of camels and other animals stood at $5,072 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 48% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $6,055 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($10,231 per ton), while the average price for exports to Fiji ($2,632 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Fiji (+45.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for meat of camels and other animals stood at $9,395 per ton in 2022, picking up by 82% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild reduction. The import price peaked at $11,926 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($28,721 per ton), while the price for Papua New Guinea totaled $5,798 per ton.
