Price for Broad Bean and Horse Bean in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average import price for broad beans and horse beans (dry) amounted to $557 per ton, with a decrease of -5.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 71% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $736 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($979 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for broad beans and horse beans (dry) amounted to $983 per ton, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,977 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,515 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($636 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (-3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Broad Bean and Horse Bean in Turkey

In 2022, overseas purchases of broad beans and horse beans (dry) decreased by -32.9% to 3.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 136% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, broad bean and horse bean imports reduced notably to $2.1M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.8M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports of Broad Bean and Horse Bean in Turkey

Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 193% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, broad bean and horse bean exports fell sharply to $1.4M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a resilient increase.
