In 2022, the average asbestos, other than crocidolite import price amounted to $317 per ton, which is down by -11.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $635 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($435 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan stood at $316 per ton.

Overall, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, asbestos, other than crocidolite export price increased by +29.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 45%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $926 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Moldova.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for India amounted to -2.0% per year.

In value terms, asbestos, other than crocidolite imports dropped dramatically to $244K in 2022. In general, imports faced a dramatic shrinkage. The smallest decline of -11.8% was in 2020.
