In February 2022, the average import price for antibiotics; streptomycins and their derivatives; salts thereoves amounted to $30,884 per ton, shrinking by -5.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 3,244% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $870K per ton. From July 2021 to February 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -6.5% per month.

For the fourth year in a row, Colombia recorded growth in purchases abroad of antibiotics; streptomycins and their derivatives; salts thereoves, which increased by 26% to 10 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.6% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of antibiotics; streptomycins and their derivatives; salts thereoves rose markedly to $396K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 35%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
