Price for Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price amounted to $3,080 per ton, falling by -18.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,066 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,220 per ton), while the price for China ($2,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average aluminium; tubes and pipes export price stood at $6,622 per ton in 2022, reducing by -72.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 460%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $24,462 per ton, and then declined significantly in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Maldives.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to +10.4% per year.
Imports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Sri Lanka
In 2022, the amount of aluminium; tubes and pipeses imported into Sri Lanka declined markedly to 289 tons, waning by -31.8% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 102%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 423 tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes imports declined sharply to $889K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 131% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.6M, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of aluminium; tubes and pipeses increased by 246% to 45 kg in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a precipitous shrinkage.
In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes exports fell to $298 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a sharp contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year.
