Price for Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Finland (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average aluminium; tubes and pipes import price amounted to $7,273 per ton, dropping by -4.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 61% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,093 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($14,790 per ton), while the price for Greece ($4,143 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium; tubes and pipes export price stood at $17,860 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -11.1% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a notable increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, aluminium; tubes and pipes export price increased by +31.5% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 56% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $21,737 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($28,890 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($10,404 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Aluminium; Tubes and Pipes in Finland

For the third consecutive year, Finland recorded decline in purchases abroad of aluminium; tubes and pipeses, which decreased by -14.5% to 924 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep setback. The smallest decline of -5.5% was in 2021.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes imports amounted to $6.5M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
