The average export price for alcohols; aromatic alcohols and derivatives, benzyl alcohol stood at $2,459 per ton in November 2023, increasing by 5.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,983 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($4,157 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,004 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In November 2023, the average import price for alcohols; aromatic alcohols and derivatives, benzyl alcohol amounted to $2,247 per ton, rising by 8.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 24% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,117 per ton. From January 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($2,458 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,313 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
