Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,154 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,583 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($429 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
