Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average preserved sweet corn import price amounted to $1,359 per ton, surging by 2.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 17% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,577 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,726 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($943 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average preserved sweet corn export price amounted to $1,747 per ton, waning by -19.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,857 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Papua New Guinea ($2,198 per ton) and Solomon Islands ($1,788 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,522 per ton) and New Zealand ($1,678 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vanuatu (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Preserved Sweet Corn Imports in Australia

For the third consecutive year, Australia recorded decline in overseas purchases of sweet corn prepared or preserved, which decreased by -4.9% to 11K tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable setback. The smallest decline of -1.2% was in 2020.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn imports declined to $14M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 8.7% against the previous year.

Preserved Sweet Corn Exports in Australia

For the fourth consecutive year, Australia recorded growth in shipments abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved, which increased by 41% to 210 tons in 2022. Overall, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports rose remarkably to $366K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 105%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
