Price for Citrus Fruit Jams and Marmalades in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average import price for citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes amounted to $3,978 per ton, reducing by -5.8% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a temperate expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, citrus fruit jams and marmalades import price increased by +4.9% against February 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 52% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,223 per ton in July 2023, and then declined in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($5,527 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($2,509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes stood at $2,898 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, citrus fruit jams and marmalades export price increased by +10.1% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 32% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,037 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($11,554 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($1,820 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Citrus Fruit Jams and Marmalades in Germany

In 2022, purchases abroad of citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes decreased by -15.7% to 3.4K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 12%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4K tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, citrus fruit jams and marmalades imports fell markedly to $10M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 13%.
