In September 2023, the average preserved olive import price amounted to $2,950 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,970 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($3,716 per ton), while the price for Greece ($2,268 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average preserved olive export price amounted to $2,766 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,499 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($3,010 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($2,612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+37.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Imports in Latvia
In 2022, purchases abroad of olives prepared or preserved decreased by -24.1% to 1.3K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth.
