Pumpkin Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average pumpkin import price amounted to $950 per ton, dropping by -10.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 20% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,549 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($10,624 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($357 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Price in France (FOB) - 2023
The average pumpkin export price stood at $1,174 per ton in September 2023, increasing by 10% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 an increase of 58% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,679 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,529 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland stood at $1,272 per ton.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Imports in France
In 2022, overseas purchases of pumpkin (squash and gourds) decreased by -10.1% to 148K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 1.8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 169K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
