In August 2023, the average preserved fish fillet import price amounted to $4,318 per ton, declining by -38.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 166% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $7,836 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($12,283 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,791 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average preserved fish fillet export price stood at $6,185 per ton in 2022, increasing by 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The export price peaked at $6,223 per ton in 2016; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Aruba ($9,172 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($3,754 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+80.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, preserved fish fillet imports into the United States skyrocketed to 17K tons, picking up by 38% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
